There is no reason, to spend anything on sloppy joe sauce, many are not gluten free or have a lot of added garbage.  The sauce comes together for pennies, and you have a quick, hot sandwich meal.  Feel free to adjust the taste to suit your family,

Gluten Free Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef or turkey
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • Gluten Free Rolls or Buns

Instructions

  1. In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, green pepper, and garlic powder
  2. Drain off the liquids.
  3. Stir in the garlic powder, mustard, ketchup, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly. Reduce heat, and simmer over low for 30 minutes. (or medium/low for about 20)
  4. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve on Gluten Free Rolls or Buns
